Ask, Seek, Find

Sometimes things don't go exactly as planned... You can either give up, or see it as an opportunity to do more!

We love finding the right dress/outfit or romper for every client. One of the best part of the day is finding exactly what our clients are looking for, (we do a lot of custom orders). Our suppliers are great and always provide us with the quality and designs that we love.

It is often the case that a client sends us images of a dream dress for the perfect occasion. When this happens, we always go to our suppliers and see what we can find - a certain color style - and most of the time we find it. When we don't find it, we make it even better than the dream! This has been so rewarding, as it is fun to watch the images come to life in designer gowns. This is the ideal situation, but sometimes things get a little harder. So here starts our story this week.

We had found the perfect outfit for a very special little girl's big birthday party! We order it in and everything was going well, but when the order came the outfit was missing. I called my supplier and oops it was missed! We understood that things happen and we were happy that they could rush it to us ASAP! The bigger problem was that the package was to arrive on Friday and the party was Saturday... So we of course contacted the the client and let them know the situation, then we were determined to fix it! This little girl was getting her romper! We had a few options available that we could see, first we could have just said it will get here on Friday, and everything will be fine - but what happens if there is another delay? That was NOT an option in our mind, so we decided we could do better.

Now this outfit was very special, it was a mermaid romper for a mermaid themed party (so cute!). We decided that we could sew the outfit ourselves (by us I mean our professional seamstress Aleacia could do it)! But where could we find mermaid/fish scale/sparkle/spandex material in such a short time frame?? We searched high and low, even looked at buying a mermaid dress and deconstructing it as a last resort. Luckily our friends at Tiny Trends had exactly the fabric we needed (maybe even cuter). Anyway, to get wrap things up, we found the fabric and got to work (Aleacia :), we even added a few extras to the original design, to customize it for our client. It all turned out great and we delivered the romper across town Friday night, so everything would be perfect for the party the next day. And that missing romper... well it is now Saturday night and it hasn't arrived, so glad we didn't take the chance and made sure we had what we needed! I imagine the mermaid romper will arrive on Monday morning, so if anyone is looking for a romper let us know as we brought in 3 sizes! - we wanted it to fit perfectly.

What We Learned:

Murphy's Law is Inevitable - whatever can go wrong will go wrong, so have a few backups in place

Seeing the situation as an opportunity to do more for our client made her happy, but also was WAY more fun than just giving up!

For us, asking the Lord and seeking the solution (doing the grunt work) then together we can find a solution

Mermaid rompers are adorable and we highly recommend one for your next party! - remember we only have three :)
