Midnight Jewel - Wedding Color Inspiration

Posted by Vonda-Lee Sharun on 2021 Jan 31st

This story is filled with rich sapphire, ruby and amethyst. These brilliant jewel tones provide the perfect pop against the snow and cool winter air. Our Midnight Jewel color palette can look great in any season, especially for an evening or formal look, but I love all the deep colors and textures for winter or fall. So throw a log on the fireplace and let's warm up to these dazzling shades.

To Get this Look

  • The most important part of this palette is matching the tones of the colors. Keeping colors in the same family and the concentration of warm and cool in the shades is key.
  • Browns and gold are great neutral options if you want to warm up and blend the tones.
  • White or cream will make the colors pop and bring out the vibrancy of the shades.
  • Find "bridges" for this look. A beautiful bouquet, accessories, patterns, or FLOWER GIRL DRESS that tie all the colors together.
  • Many designers like to use names like Merlot, Cabernet, Sangria or simply Wine to describe varying shades of red and purple. The problem a lot of brides are faced with is matching shades from one label to the next. It can be hard to match the colors or dye lots when buying vests, suits, dresses and table linen. Forget about exact shades, and instead layer a few that have the same tones of warmth.

Avoid

  • Matt black with this color scheme. I believe that it doesn't add anything to the look and dulls the vibrancy of the colors. Warm browns or a black with more dimension (velvet)  can work well for suits or accessories. Navy or any of the wine shades are also a great option.
  • I like to just stick to 3 colors for this palette, there are some color looks that can do more, but there is already a lot going on in this look. You can still add neutrals, but if you add too many colors it can easily get too busy.

Flower Girl Dress Guide

Layer the tones together for a custom look. We love to work with brides to find the perfect flower girl dress that matches their style and colors for their wedding. When we first started designing dresses, we wanted to give brides a way to create a unique dress that incorporated the style and theme, so we came up with the mix and match tops and bottoms. You can take this to the next level by adding in different colors or layers to skirts, tops, or belts. A great color "bridge" for any palette.

Our Gorgeous Gia Dresses are a great option for this look. The warm white tops and bright colored skirts shows off the brilliant colors of our Midnight Jewel collection. Choose a matching floral or a sparkly rhinestone belt to finish the look and add the the brilliance. Or if you are having multiple kids in your wedding, pic a different color for each.

Keep it simple with a flower girl dress in a single shade. From wines to navy, plums or aubergine, these deep shades are a perfect just on their own. Make a statement with a solid colored dress that matches your bridesmaids or groomsmen suits.

Have you found the perfect shade for your bridesmaid dress, but are having trouble finding the same shade for a flower girl? We often tell brides to choose a white, ivory, or neutral colored dress and use the extra material from a hem of the bridesmaid dress for a sash. Most seamstresses will be happy to do it during the bridesmaid alterations.  Consider our Harlow Sparkle or Crystal Ball Gowns for this look.
