The horizon stretches over the Payne Farm as the autumn sun sets on the western foothills. Turning into the estate you are welcomed by a rainbow of ivory, champagne and blush dresses as they hang in the sun light. As the wind blows through the tulle you can hear the excitement as little girls whisper and play games in the swaying grass. A new crop welcomes a fresh look for the smallest members of your wedding party.

The Flower girl dress is often one of the last decisions that a bride will make and in this new season of bespoke design, these tiny gowns have risen to the occasion. Following close behind the trends in bridesmaid and romantic wedding attire. Mix and match styles have popped up offering a pallet of hues and designs to choose from. Choose one dress in complementing tones, or select one color in different looks to match your flower girl's unique sense of style. Gone are stiff and itchy fabrics that we all remember wearing and replaced by soft, delicate and unique designs that are comfortable and stretchy for the little ones from the ceremony to the dance floor. Don't forget to finish the look with accessories that step into a new age of creativity; from fresh flower necklaces, rings and hairpins to jewels borrowed from women's wear straight from your closet or the local mall. Say hello to these new trends of flower girl dresses and let your creativity go wild.

Mix and Match Flower Girl Dresses

Don't limit yourself. Play with color, fabric and style while you find the perfect dress for your flower girl or jr. bridesmaid. Find a dress that matches your theme while taking into account your little girl's unique style and personal expression. I love it how so many brides now approach the flower girl dress by starting with the flower girl herself. Most girls know what they want from a very young age and letting them find themselves in a dress is a sure way to have a happy and smiling flower girl throughout the day.

Accessorize and Adorn

No, I am not just saying this to sell more accessories. I actually LOVE a clean aesthetic, blank space and simple lines are the backbone to my own personal style and brand, but every time I style the shoots for Rae's Closet I am always amazed how adding a few details make all the difference. Can you even call it a shoot without accessories? I kid, but I have honestly learned how important it is. The good news is that it doesn't have to cost anything. I actually pulled a lot of the accessories for this shoot from my own closet and everything else I purchased from MY favorite stores. Yes, a women's necklace looks great on a 5 year old. Think of it a guilt free shopping for all the bling you just can't justify getting for your self. Also a supper sweet tradition can be giving you daughter a special piece of your own that she can wear that day. Maybe you got a bracelet from your fiance when you were dating that carries a lot of meaning, but doesn't go with your wedding day style, lend it to your daughter have it part of the day you all celebrate your love.

I have to give a big shout out to Small Flower Floral Studio, www.smallflower.ca for introducing me to the world of wearable flowers. Elli added little touches to the dresses in this shoot that "level up" the whole story. From floral necklaces and broaches to rings and even living temporary flower tattoos, fresh flowers can go beyond the bouquet. The tiny flowers in the handmade flower crown that Rae got to wear in this shoot (below) will forever be my favorite, I even dried it and still have it as a memory. I loved how the flowers were in proportion to her small size and the ribbons added a faux veil for a little mini bride.

One Dress in 3 Colors / 3 Colors of One Dress

I remember when bridesmaid dress started to break the mold and offer different dresses in the same wedding. I was actually getting married myself at the time and it was a bit off a controversy with mothers and mother-in-laws across the spectrum shaking their head. The problem was back then, not to many designers had picket up the trend, so you were matching styles across designers who had different impressions of blush, not to mention the dye lot. After experiencing this as a bride I wanted to provide your flower girl with more and introduce matching dresses in different styles. I was supper excited with this look and Jessica Pechet, our photographer, delivered some unbelievable images.
